This hand-painted gourd wall hanging design was inspired by ceremonial tribal shields of the Sepik Tribe in New Guinea. Shields were hung over the door to their huts to appease their ancestors. If their ancestors were remembered respectfully, their spirits would ward off any negative energy from entering their home.
